P!nk is among the most recent celebrities to publicly discuss her diagnosis of asthma. By taking this courageous step, the singer helped make the asthma room bigger, contributing to awareness and discussion of the condition around the world and helping others with asthma feel less alone.
She noted that she is a lifelong asthma sufferer, but that she’d been able to halt her asthma attacks for decades. However, a COVID-19 diagnosis in 2020 prompted her to reach for her inhaler and a nebulizer for the first time in years.
Members of MyAsthmaTeam frequently discuss the need for rescue inhalers and nebulizer treatments to deal with the symptoms of the condition. “My treatment consists of my rescue inhaler and my nebulizer,” one member wrote. “I’d rather rest and calm myself, but that doesn’t always work.” Another said, “Remember to bring your inhaler with you everywhere! I forgot today, and I was choking for a second!”
Since MyAsthmaTeam launched in 2020, we have grown to become over 4,000 members strong — that's a big room! Just as P!nk’s announcement amplifies the voices of those with asthma, each new member on MyAsthmaTeam makes our community stronger.
Without an Asthma community, it can be easy to feel isolated, like you're the only one struggling with asthma symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing. Whether you have spoken directly with other members or not, by joining MyAsthmaTeam and reading shared experiences, you have become part of the community.
